Unconditional Love
"Why is it always crowd on these main roads?" David grumbled, standing on the pavement waiting for the signal to become red. He had always feared Naina, his better-half (well mainly of lovely fear๐
). "If I don't give her these flowers early, she might be angry. Well not might, I am sure she'll be too much angry." Fifteen years ago, he had married Naina Singh. She did readily agree to become a Fernandez, just to be with him. David travelled to the flashback,...
College days! Naina was a small town girl from Ghaziabad, who had taken admission at Government College, Sanjauli. And David, the rich brat from Shimla! Well, there's love story was also something like those shown in Bollywood. A lot of foolish things to impress Naina. Specially that bus incident!
It was the last day of Sem 2 in college. David had pre-planned to propose her from the top of a double-decker bus. Being much rich, it had been easier for him to convince the owner of the bus association to lend him a bus for maybe 2 hours. At the end of a day, he had climbed the roof of a bus taking a bunch of flowers! With some cheesy filmy lines, and the red roses, he had proposed Naina. And after a few days, she accepted his proposal.
College days were really too good with Naina by his side. Masters also done in the same college. And soon, marriage followed. Naina's parents were too modern, and they didn't even interfere in their matters saying she can become a Fernandez anytime, because it was Naina who had to live with him, and not them. Soon, their marriage were carried out at the Christ Church, Shimla. And they lived happily ever after. But, not really...
A bus honk brought him to the present. David had already stepped onto the road, smiling. There was no time for him to return. Some people shouted. David saw the bus coming closer and closer.
David was lying in a pool of blood of himself, waiting for his last breath to be blown away. His lips moved a little. Seeing so, an old woman came close to him and asked,
"Do you want to say something?"
"Can you do a little favour to me, please aunty?"
"Sure son, say what is it?"
"Aunty, please give these flowers to my wife, Naina. I was about to give these to her, but now it's impossible for me. She resides in the Sanjauli Cemetery. Well, she had left me three years ago, because of some sort of cancer. Oh God! I hate that word. Since then, I visit her everyday to decorate her grave with these flowers. Well, she was very fond of decorations. Holy Jesus now wants me to visit her physically. I had been missing her too much."
David's lips stopped with the flowers in hand. The old woman's eyes had became moist with tears.
