A Captain's Dream

Pilot Aakansha Sharma, the daughter of Abhay Sharma, an aeronautical engineer, boarded her own flight, rather her own dream. The cockpit shivered her once again, and may be for the last time too. Goosebumps appeared on her hands. Well, she was trying to pursue Captain Aakansha Sharma's dream project. She still didn't know, whether it was a coincidence, or an intentional thing, but not only did her parents name her Aakansha Sharma, but she also did step into the same profession of the Captain. Well, lets go back fifty-four years ago, the year 1964...

Captain Aakansha Sharma boarded on her last flight (which she still didn't know would be). After 7 years being a Captain, she stepped into the cockpit of her private plane, just to live her own life, or more precisely, live her own dream. Her dream had always been to fly across the earth, or circumnavigate the globe, and cover the approx. 24300 miles.
On getting an approval from the aviation control room, Captain Aakansha Sharma flew off.
For the first few days, everything was okay. But as soon as her plane arrived over the Pacific, she started losing signal and access from the control room. She shouted over and over on her mic, but still no reply from the other side.
On the other hand, the men from the control room also tried connecting to her, but all in vain. Her signal slowly started vanishing from the monitor in the control room. And soon within minutes, everyone lost her trace.
Newspapers on the next day were published with the headline..."A sudden disappearance of a Captain".

Pilot Aakansha had heard about this incident, more or less a zillion times from her father. And every time she did hear about it, she would become more firm in fulfilling this dream of both Aakanshas.
She kept her trembling hands on the yoke.
"This would either be the best journey, or the last journey of my life", she mumbled to herself.
Dear God, please take care of my Mom and Dad. They are absolutely helpless without me, they can't live without me. Up I go in this flight, but I don't know how much up. Maybe to you, or maybe down into my Dad's arms. Just want to say a few words to them...
No one will ever know the strength of my love for you... After all, you are the only ones what my heart sounds like from inside.
Saying some small mental notes to God, Pilot Aakansha Sharma's flight took off.
We still don't know what happened to Captain Sharma that day... some said she died in an air crash, and some said she disappeared. But we know, Pilot Sharma did fulfill both theirs' dream. Yes! Pilot Aakansha Sharma did return into her normal life after an expedition of 23 days, covering the estimated 24,300 nautical miles and circumnavigating the globe, just making 14 stops in the process.
Long live people like Pilot Sharma. We salute her for all she did.

P.S.:- Inspired by the Amelia Project
